Family Guy: Stewie Griffin Meets Wall Street

Posted by admin

Bud Fox (Sheen) dreams of the luxury and power at the pinnacle of Wall Street investment banking. Stewie Griffin dreams of world domination: diapers never held a man back from rising to the top. Fox charms his way up with the help of Gordon Gekko (Douglas), in a world that values high-risk greed over low-yield ethics. Fox will soon find he is pit against his mentor in a winner-takes-all contest that neither can afford to lose, while little Stewie will continue to wreak havoc on the Griffin household and the world at large.

How would I go about getting a job on wall street after graduation?

Posted by admin

I am a 20 year old accounting major with a 3.6 gpa. I am willing to work upwards of 60 hours a week for 25k a year. I just really want to work on wall street and I am unsure of how to start when I graduate in a few years….

If you live in or around NYC, your best bet is to apply for an internship in one of these companies now. Getting an internship will allow you to gain experience (which is HUGELY profitable) and will allow you to get your foot in the door. If you do well in the intern program, the company is likely to hire you full-time after graduation.

Your school should have an internship or employment office. Take a trip there and find out about internships on Wall Street.

If you don't live in NYC, get an internship anyway in the field that you would like to work in the future. What specifically do you want to do with your accounting degree? Find a company specializing in whatever that is and try to intern with them.

Are jobs on Wall Street in general high paying, and is it hard to get a job on Wall Street?

They can be very high paying and you will usually not get one unless you have a degree from a very highly regarded school.

Wall Street Meltdown

Posted by admin

This video was inspired by the bizarre sequence of events on the Street in 2007. The use of Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire” came from a hilarious internet parody song “Here Comes Another Bubble” by the Richter Scales (available on YouTube). They did such a good job, I thought Wall Streeters everywhere deserved a parody of their own. This version does not have anywhere near the same sophisticated flash software but here it goes.

The video was produced for non-commercial amusement purposes only and is not intended to offend any people, companies or countries appearing in the video.

How do you get a job on wall street?

Posted by admin

How do you get a job on wall street? What are some entry level positions can a college student get before graduating college? What is the best major for getting a job on wall street? Do Wall street firms go to college campus such as wharton and colleges like that?

I work at a Wall St firm. Although many Wall St firms hire business or finance majors, we are more and more looking for academic diversity. Recently we've hired engineers, nursing school graduates, liberal arts majors, military veterans, etc. The one thing that everyone has in common is some knowledge of the financial markets or basics of finance.

You can get an entry level job in just about any area of the firm - investment banking, sales, trading, technology, credit, operations, controllers, human resources, compliance, and several other areas. But these are all very different sorts of roles. Don't go for what's popular — go for what areas suit your skill sets. If you don't know, research the various websites. I've heard that Goldman Sachs even has a career quiz that will suggest roles after you answer some questions on work preferences.

Many people apply for a summer internship between their junior and senior years. The application process is quite early — January of junior year for internships and September of senior year for full time jobs. So check out the deadlines on the firms' websites.

You don't have to go to Penn/Wharton or Harvard. Many firms will hire from a diversity of schools, particularly if you're looking for less well known roles such as technology or operations. And you can always apply online as well as via your school — those resumes are definitely considered.

I'd also encourage you to contact any alumni of your school who work on Wall Street. They can be an invaluable connection. Check with your career center for listings.

Good luck!
